With eight daughters, Joseph and Sarah had two sons, Joseph and Charles, ancestors of all the later CHITTYs of this armigerous family. A Chancery Case, CHITTY v WILLIAMS, 1796 (PRO) arose after his death.
The children of Joseph and Sarah were:
i. Sarah, born 1772 Apr 19, died 1792 Sep 2, married 1792 May 12, Robert TOMKINS.
ii. Elizabeth, born 1773 Oct 6, baptised Nov 2, died 1774 Apr 2, buried at Dagenham.
iii. Joseph, born 1775 Mch 12, baptised Apr 8, died 1841 Feb 17, married 1793 Sep 26 at St Dunstan Stepney Elizabeth WOODWARD, and had issue. Of whom later.
iv. Anna Maria, born 1776 Apr 27, baptised May 23, died 1776 Nov 12, buried at Dagenham.
v. Elizabeth, born 1777 Apr 5, baptised May 16, married 1810 Sep 9 (CC), by licence dated Sep 7 for St Giles in the Fields, her cousin Jeremiah Jellicoe TOMPSON of Old Square, Lincoln's Inn, youngest son of Samuel TOMPSON and his wife Ann CHITTY. The witnesses were H.M. BIRD, Susannah and Charles CHITTY and Anna JELLICOE. Jeremiah Jellicoe TOMPSON died 1817 Jan 19 of yellow fever, Attorney-General of Grenada, West Indies.
vi. Mary, born 1778 May 10, baptised Jun 6, died 1782 Apr 18, buried at Dagenham.
vii. Charlotte, born 1780 Jan 19, baptised Feb 12, died 1780 Apr 16, buried at Dagenham.
viii. Charles, born 1781 Nov 3, baptised Nov 8 Dagenham, died 1866 May 28, buried Jun 4 Itchingfield; married 1810 May 2 Susannah Elizabeth JOURDAN, born 1786 Jan 28, died 1876 May 26, and had issue. Of whom later.
ix. Marian, born 1789 Jul 11, baptised Aug, died 1807 Oct 24, of Gower Street, spinster; Will, dated 1804 Aug 13, proved 1807 Nov 7, names mother Sarah, brother Joseph and his wife Elizabeth and their four living children, brother Charles and sister Elizabeth. Joseph JELLICOE of Fenchurch Street, merchant, and Jeremiah Jellicoe THOMPSON of Lincoln's Inn, Esq., were to be trustees.
x. Amelia, born (?1785 Jan 8 or) 1786 Jun 8, baptised 1786 Jul 8, died 1791 Feb 1 or Mch 3 (varying family reports).
