'Chitty of London':
Feedback
and Acknowledgements

As a member of the 'Chitty of London' family myself (Tompson Chitty branch), I was only distantly related to the late Erik Chitty - a 'Chitty of Deal'. However, on his death in 1976, Erik's widow Hester presented me with many of his genealogical notes, including the original typescript of 'CHITTY OF LONDON' which forms the basis of this website.  I still have Erik's research notes in my possession, and you are welcome to contact me with any queries about the family's origins and ancestry. Alternatively you may like to post your enquiry - or information about your own branch of the family - on the Chitty of London MESSAGE BOARD, for other visitors to read and reply to.

Most of Erik Chitty's sources are clearly indicated in the text, and the Wills and Administrations which he used are listed separately
.

Although every care has been taken to avoid transcription errors, it is possible that some may have escaped detection. The responsibility for these is mine alone. Please notify me of any mistakes which you may discover, however trivial. I have not, as yet (August 2002) made any significant changes to Erik's original text - the few amendments which have been made are in dark blue - so some of the information on more recent family members will now be out of date. Please use the form below - or, if you prefer, the Message Board
, to report any errors or omissions, so that the site can be kept as accurate and comprehensive as possible.
