Abraham Chitty III
of London (continued)

5. Matthew, at home in 1695 but probably dead by 1703.

6. Elizabeth, baptised 1685 Aug 30 at St Helen's Bishopsgate, and at home in 1695, was to receive £1000 by her father's Will, and married 1706, by licence dated Feb 14 for St Paul's Cathedral (being still of St Helen's) Richard SYMIONS of St Michael, Crooked Lane, and of Thames Street, oilman. Both were living, with children, in 1722.

7. Margaret, baptised 1686 Feb 3 at St Helen's, but probably died young as she is not mentioned in 1695, 1703 or 1722.8. Henry, born 1688 Feb 13 according to the records of Merchant Taylors' School which he entered in 1695/6, staying until 1702 when (1702/3 Feb 12) he was admitted to the Middle Temple, being then described as his father's fifth son. His father left him £1000 and The Falcon Inn at Barnet, but he probably pre-deceased his mother as she did not name him in her Will (1722).

9. Isaac was not at home in 1695, but was presumably born prior to that date as he was admitted to the Grocers' Company in 1714, in which year he married Elizabeth NEWINGTON of, and at, Camberwell, He was a sugar-baker and died in 1746, Dec, his widow being dead by 1767. A Deed now at Croydon (DS 70) of 1732 May 23/24, shows that Isaac had bargained to his brother David property in South End, Thornton Heath, Croydon, etc. Isaac and Elizabeth had at least two children: Benjamin was buried as a child at St Laurence, 1722 Oct 14. Abraham was apprenticed to Robert TRAVERS, citizen and vintner, and was himself a member of the Vintners' Company by 1741. He was resident at St Botolph's Bishopsgate when he married, 1743 Nov 14 at St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey, Mary ELLIS. In his Will, dated 1767 Aug 24 and proved 1770 Feb 16, he is described as of St Dunstan, Stepney, gentleman, and leaves his freehold in Fishmonger Lane, Southwark, to his daughter Elizabeth. References to his brother- and sister-in-law Thomas and Rth (widow) CLEAVER are probably to his late wife's relations, though somewhat obscure. 'Mary CHITTY a stranger' buried at St Laurence Pountney, 1766 Aug 7, may have been his wife.
